Senior Software Engineer
Job Description
We’re looking for a talented and enthusiastic Senior Software Engineer, to join our team in sunny Barcelona. Working with us, your mission will be to ensure our Web platform is always available, it’s fast, scalable, and fulfills all upcoming needs while engineered to withstand demand.
Your Role
- Design, develop and test our platform to scale and perform well
- Influence ongoing architecture, standards, methods & design
- Support the process of standardizing the integration of new airlines
- Research new technologies, tools and services
Skills
- BS or MS in Computer Science (IT Engineer), or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience building distributed web-based applications
- Strong object-oriented programming experience (e.g. Java, Scala)
- Experience defining and building SOA (e.g. J2EE 6, Spring)
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB)
- Experience working with Application Servers (e.g. Tomcat, JBOSS)
- Ability to communicate in English & in a close-knit, startup environment
Valued
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Managing IT systems based on Linux environments (i.e. DevOps)
- Front-end development know-how (JavaScript, PHP or HTML/CSS)
- Knowledge with Cloud Infrastructures (e.g. AWS, Google App Engine)
- Confident working in an open, agile, and evolving company

Your Role
- Design and develop our Web platform to scale and perform well
- Develop the next-generation front-end (back-end too & you’re half-way in!)
- Influence ongoing architecture, standards, methods & design
- Embrace emerging standards & promote best practices
Skills
- Computer Science degree, or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience building Web applications
- Expert in web technologies (e.g. object-oriented JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3)
- Experience with scripting language, such as PHP (preferred), Ruby, etc.
- Knowledgeable with MVC frameworks (e.g. Symfony, CodeIgniter, Zend)
- Knowledgeable with relational databases & SQL (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- Ability to communicate in English & in a close-knit, startup environment
Valued
- Good sense of UX & UI design
- Understanding of SOAP and REST APIs
- Experience with the performance of medium to large scale websites
